A few months ago, there was a sad story of a mother purposefully driving her mini van into the Hudson River, which resulted in the fatal drowning of three of her four kids. The mother killed herself because she was devastated that the father of her children had been cheating on her. The father of those three kids now plans to sue the city and county where it happened for $40 million.
Jean Pierre filed a notice of claim against the City of Newburgh and Orange County claiming they are responsible for the “dangerous” boat ramp LaShanda Armstrong drove off in April.
Armstrong, 25, and three of her children drowned. Her 10-year-old son managed to escape through a window and swam to safety.
Pierre, Armstrong’s 26-year-old estranged boyfriend, says there should have been proper barriers erected to keep vehicles from going into the river. He also claims Orange County’s Department of Child Protective Services had the responsibility to monitor the 25-year-old woman.
Pierre and Armstrong had gotten into a screaming fight earlier on the night she drove into the river. Her relatives said she had been driven to the edge by her rocky relationship with Pierre, but his lawyer insisted that was not the case.
Armstrong’s aunt, Angela Gilliam, told the Times Herald-Record she was surprised by the upcoming suit. “Someone should file a claim against him,” she said. “Forty million? Are you kidding me?
County officials did not respond to requests for comment.

I hope if the city/county pay him, the make him put the money in a trust fund for the little boy who survived….had he not acted like an asshole and drove her to drive that van off the dock, this little boy would still have his mother!!!!!

well since he opended the door, her family should sue him and he should get locked up for being the cause of what she did.
Although I have much sympathy and empathy for the mother and children in this article, she was the person responsible for her death as well as the death of three of her four children. I do not condone cheating and I also do not condone murder. I am certain that everyone in this world has been hurt at one time or another, but to kill your own children, that is wrong. This story does not provide enough information about the mother or the father for any one to go pointing the finger. If the father was an abuser as well as a cheater why would she hurt herself and her children???? Why not do physical harm to him???? In my opinion yes the situation is extremely sad and very devastating, but we as Black Women need to LOVE OURSELVES AND OUR CHILDREN more than we should ever love a man. My condolences go out to both sides of the affected families and especially to her son that survived and acknowledging that he has to live with this horrible memory forever. As far as a a monetary value on life that is absurd. Most people look to score money after a tragedy and place blame were ever they can instead of looking at the role we had in the situation.
