Mo’Nique Show Reportedly Canceled by BET

27 Jul

Your Black World reports.

It is being reported that the highly-rated BET Show, “The Mo’nique Show” has been canceled by the network.

Rodney Perry, the sidekick on the show, wouldn’t say much, only stating that  “I was told indefinite hiatus.”

He also told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “We did some good work,” Perry said. “And I think the show is significant. There hasn’t been an outlet for people of color late night since Arsenio.”

Ratings didn’t seem to be a problem, as the show consistently carried over half a million viewers every night.  But there are conflicting reports regarding whether the cancelation was due to financial concerns or creative differences between Mo’Nique and BET Management.

The Monique Show was a very informative vehicle that introduced those “not so famous stars” to the public. She treated her guest with the utmost respect and honor. She showed love and kindness to each one to came in contact with and never put down anyone. She was her true self and her show exemplified class with a capital C. BET bring her back!!!

ASS IS CURSING COME ON HOLIER THAN THA, PEOPLE KILL ME THEY ACT LIKE THEY DON’T HAVE A CHOICE! HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHE DOES OR CONTINUES TO DO IF YOU’RE NOT A VIEWER? Yes, and at the same time, those same people probably do say a pep about the buffoonery that goes on during 106th and Park or the coonery that happens on the awards shows on that network. I’m done with BET and the white people that own it!

      • torra September 2, 2011 at 7:16 pm #

I hear you! I just think black people cant have NOTHING! Monique was showing off black talented people and wasnt afraid to speak her mind and white people cant stand that!!!

    • Delna October 14, 2011 at 5:55 am #

Maybe it was God that was tired of her also. You can’t mistreat your parents and expect to always prosper. It will eventually turn on you. Thank God if it is cancelled. She was an embarassment.

  4. Marcia Stanley July 28, 2011 at 1:37 pm #

This is ridiculous! BET will continue to lose viewers. I only watch BET for special shows. They ruined that with this years BET awards when they disrespected Patti Labelle! Come on “Ce Lo Green” in drag to honor Ms Patti! She deserved better than that.

    • justsaying October 22, 2011 at 6:55 am #

i felt the same way, patti labell is true talent and she deserved a better tribute than that. i love cleo green come on. this was a total disregard for the woman patti label is and stands for. she is class with a capital c.

BET = Black Exploitation Television – Owned and managed by people who are not BLACK,

    Nuff said!

I don’t like the cussin either. Thats why I stop watching it too. And the BET Awards OOOOWEE TRASH AT IT’S BEST!!

    • torra September 2, 2011 at 7:03 pm #

I will miss MO! I agree with most of the comments on this site. BET is not for black people anymore! it sold out when BOB sold to DEBRA she is not black and BET really sucks now!! They let go out Mo propbley because she didnt have enough white people on the show! We as black people cant have nothing!!!! This happened because the lady Debra that owns BET is NOT BLACK!

    • Zaiya October 9, 2011 at 4:32 am #

That’s so true…..and they show the same crap over and over and over. Everyone should know that BET is owned by non blacks because there are no type of educational shows for our young black youths instead they have 106 & park with booty shaking videos, ebonics and a lot of non-sense for our younger generation, what a joke!!!!

  8. thespiceoflife July 28, 2011 at 3:26 pm #

This is both surprising and WONDERFUL! Surprising because this show was just what BET (Buckwheat Inspiried Trash) has always promoted to our community…trash. I know that there were some decent interviews with some very credible people but the show had a constant stream of rappers/entertainers whose lyrics were demeaning to women, vile and full of negative behaviors that have continued to poison our community especially our children. These rappers/entertainers were also allowed to come on the show with their pants hanging below their behinds and Monique contantly praised them for being ‘successful’ that is, making money…this sick mentality must be stopped. Using that analogy the people that fought to abolish slavery were wrong because the slave owner made LOTS OF MONEY!

The worst comment I heard was when Lil Wayne, probably the greatest purveyor of negativity in the industry came on her show and he said that he lets his small children listen to his music because they are going to hear the type of lyrics he talks about anyway so they might as well hear it from him (if this does not show how mis-educated/sick this young man is than what does). Monique then goes on to praise this statement and leads the audience into clapping for him and tells them this is why she loves him so much…how insane is that?

Monique and Wendy Williams are protituting themselves by being the face of a wicked system that continues to poison the minds of the masses (in this case black/latino youth). It’s also interesting to see the time slot they put Moniques show on which is when local and national news programs are on…our youth that ARE watching TV at this time should be turning on the news. It’s interesting that BET took off their news program years ago and have replaced them with negative forms of entertainment that does nothing to enlighten, inspire or empower us.

If the Mo’Nique Show is gone I’m glad but we must brace ourselves for what this demonic channel has as it’s replacement.

You black people kill me, you always talking about what the WHITE MAN do too us, but you are the FIRST ONE, to put another Black Person down, We the Black People are our WORST ENEMY, that’s why we don’t have shit today. Then You want to talk about our People that fought to abolish slavery. They fought together, that’s why you are where we are today. First these Churches Need To STOP, None Of them Are GODS JUDGES,GOD SAY’S HE’S THE ONLY JUDGE!!!!! THEN THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE DON’T COME TO CHURCH. SO SHUT THE HELL UP NONE OF YOU, ARE GOD.WHY YOU ON HERE JUDGING HER AND TALKING ABOUT HER, NOW WHO’S SINNING? Mo’ Nique you are #1 in my eyes, keep your head up High, know that GOD has Better plans for you, and will Open up a Better door. Like I said, WE ARE OUR WORST ENEMY, UNTIL BLACK PEOPLE LEARN TO STICK TOGETHER, THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE FOR US, THE WHITE MAN, HAS BLACK PEOPLE CONDITIONED, TO THINK LIKE THAT, THAT’S WHY WE CAN’T GET AHEAD. THE WHITE MAN HAS BEEN LAUGHING AT OUR BLACK ASSES FOR YEARS, WAKE THE F- – – – UP IT’S NEVER GOING TO GET BETTER. THEN YOU BLACK PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT HOW THE LATINO’S COME OVER HERE AND LIVING BETTER THAN YOU. HELL THEY WORK FOR LESS THEN US AND LIVING BETTER. HELL THE STICK TOGETHER, BLACK PEOPLE WAKE THE F- – – – UP, WE ARE THE ONLY DUMMIES. QUIT PUTTING EACH OTHER DOWN, HELP EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jODY

I agree with you Jody, talk about us, some of us don’t realize we’re still in “LEGALIZED” Slavery, ask most of them who complain and don’t stick together (rather kill one another in the streets); when their state “ratified” the 13th Adm., they probably couldn’t tell us; as the state of Mississippi finally ratified it in 1995; what does that tell us; as you said, God has all power; keep your head up Mo, and you will be placed where God wants you to be…………. and for all the younger “brothers and sisters”, please stop the violence and lets learn to stick together……………….Teresa

    • Al Crowley August 3, 2011 at 1:25 pm #

Couldn’t have said it any better myself. Maybe are right about the negativity she was spreading on her show. Why would BET take it off the air if that’s their main purpose? BET does hate black people, you know. I never really did watch her show, so I just assumed they took her off the air because she was trying to spread positivity in her show. I hate BET with a passion, anyway. The whole fuckin network needs to be taken off the air. DIE SLOW BET!!!!!

    • viriginia January 2, 2012 at 4:59 pm #

i agree with you comment about lil wayne and him only but. for you to get on here and bash someone for coming up and doing the best that they can with what they are being presented. is just wrong people like you should stop hiding behind your ignorance, show your face, and own up to what you say and stand for. i have yet to see you or others who think like you make our world a better place. instead you get on the internet use fake names and pictures and type with smiles on your faces as the hateful words leave your brains and spill on to the world wide web for people to see. everyone complains but no one is doing anything to make the situation better. the time you spend on here with your well thought out comments you could be somewhere writing a pilot for a show worth watching one that you and others can be proud of. but for now continue blogging and blaming others for why you didn’t get up and go make a difference.

If this show had high ratings, why was it cancelled? I don’t understand. I hope some REAL data is forthcoming, soon.

  12. Sheryl King July 28, 2011 at 9:55 pm #

I agree with the comments that the Monique Show was not worth watching. I stopped watching when she told one of her guests from a Tyler Perry movie that “a woman needed to have her lip stung” (hit by a man), every now and then. The guest was stunned and immediately told her that he didn’t agree with that. Monique then tried to wiggle out of that dumb statement. She questioned another guest about how her Oscar nomination would profit her financially. Finally, I agree that she would praise her guests, (Lil Wayne), whose lyrics and behavior are embarassing. We need positive shows on tv, but again they would be cancelled because lack of viewers.

  13. Linda July 28, 2011 at 11:05 pm #

I agree with you thespiceoflife, what happened to all of the news segments? Every now and then they will cut in to breaking news. I guess Debra Lee is trying but some people go with what sells and each year some of the same artist get awards. Seems to me like the commercial ones. Bob Johnson ran it different obviously it what contents and which audiences he reached. It was more diverse for youth and grownfolks. There are so many great real black stories that can be aired instead of the same movies. It needs ajusting. Mo’Nique will move on to better things. When one door closes, another opens. Best wishes to her.

  14. Rose July 29, 2011 at 3:14 am #

We watch each night it comes on. Here it only comes on Tues, Wed, and Thursday nights. I love her show. She finds people that I wonder about and she finds new talent. Her show is so refreshing, I hope another network will pick her up. BET is getting tired and sad anyway. They are putting all their bucks into Centric. It is a shame. Love you Mo’. MONIQUE FOREVER!!!!!!!!

  15. Blkpanther July 30, 2011 at 9:16 am #

I never watcher her show so it will not make a difference in my life…BET and TV One is all white controlled and pushes programs to control the minds of black people…Monique has done some questionable things, especially her role in Precious and her family’s behavior on Oprah WInfrey’s show was too much for me to take…Certain things are best left between yourself, your shrink and family…

  16. sassysandra001 July 30, 2011 at 3:05 pm #

I started watching the show when it first aired, I thought she had some very good quests, and she did try to promote new and up coming artists like for example Jackie Jackson’s son was a new comer and she brought both of them on her show. But on the other hand I really dont see why it should have gotten axed (if so true). I wish her well and I hope there is something good coming. I dont watch BET like I used to.

  17. Al Crowley August 3, 2011 at 1:15 pm #

They’re trying to fuck up Mo’Nique’s show. They want to manipulate it. Put all kinds of shit in it to destroy our people. It already had a lot of ratings. They don’t want her spreading positivity and uplifting our people. BET hates black people. Ironic isn’t it?

  18. Jeannette August 5, 2011 at 5:51 am #

This is the most rideciousl thing I’v ever seen. I watched Mo”Nique Show the whole time she’s been on I feel she brought out the best in Our people she let the world know that we are talented, educated, and we have more to offer than what the clear people make us out to be on the news they (the clear people) always show the most negative reports possible.
I’m really sorry that people are so narrow minded and don’t reconize a good program when we get one. Mo’Nique I’m so sorry for this injustice. I’ll miss this show.

  19. Patricia September 1, 2011 at 6:51 pm #

Are you for real, this is the bet show on BET yes the Mo Nique Show. I will not watch BET until you bring the show back. This is a blessing to be able to listen to educated people on BET. The owners just lost another customer. But I quess you don’t give a damn.

  20. Shirley Shepard September 14, 2011 at 4:32 pm #

I am really mad about the cancellation of the Mo nique’s show. I love her show “so positive”

  21. Dee Walker September 17, 2011 at 6:51 pm #

BET HAS NO NIGHTLY NEWS AND NO EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROGRAMMING, HOW DO WE KEEP UP WITH WORLD EVENTS? THEY MUST REALLY THINK WE ARE STUPID TO SIT AROUND AND WATCH RE-RUNS ALL DAY!!! MO’ IS LOUD BUT THAT’S JUST HER, HOWEVER, SHE CELEBRATES “US” BETTER THAN ANYONE HAS IN YEARS. MO’ SEE CATHY HUGHES ON TV ONE SHE’S BLACK AND CARES ABOUT US! JADA PINCKETT SMITH GO SEE CATHY TOO, WE NEED TO GET HAWTHONRN BACK ON TOO.

  22. Ashley Payne September 18, 2011 at 10:12 pm #

I really though Monique show was a positive because she always ended her show with love and so what if she speaks her mind about how she feels….she just being herself. But Monique like the other comments I have read God truly has his hand on your life and he won’t let you fail just take this as a strength to go higher in him sweetheart. I love you and I will truly miss you on BET but BET is not for black power anymore. Be Blessed and I love seeing you in those different dresses every night I will missed that too. You and your family be blessed always.

  23. Delna October 14, 2011 at 5:57 am #

I and my friend are so glad that this show has ended. As I searched through the channels latenight, I would get so disgtusted when this show would be on.. She is too nasty especially for a woman with as many children as she has. I do not like her.

I was wondering what happened to her show. I looked forward to her show just about evry night (work days couldn’t stay up all the time). But I thought it was a good show. Always a good message at the ebd of every show. Good guest. Try to work together to bring her show back. Not too many good shows on tv but BET been doing some good things and he lr show was one of them

I think it’s is sad that Mo’Nique Show was cancel, BET you do not have to worry about my remote control pushing any of your buttons, shameful very shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. Cherl Clark January 11, 2012 at 8:02 pm #

As a viewer I’m very sorry Monique will not be aired anymore. For the religious people that didn’t like her style remember we all started from somewhere. That is why people are not in church now b/c of all these “Holy Rollers”. If you didn’t like her show then turn the channel. That is what is wrong with “our” people as a whole we can’t STAND together. Our people feel better knocking each other. As for the viewer talking about the profanity HELL….I Iet loose sometimes but that doesn’t change who I am. And to Patricia Garrett I think you maybe a little bipolar. One minute you are saying get with the Muslim gospel, and then you go and degrade the white and black and gay community calling people OREO’s politely speaking you can go eat a few. One should never throw stones in a glass house. BET airs reruns over and over and those I am tired of watching. Then BET takes off something GOOD a show that was worth watching. Monique I LOVE YOU and will truly miss your show surely GOD will smile on you again as he does on all his angels.
